Montemaggiore al Metauro is a medieval village surrounded by walls, overlooking the valley of Metauro from a hilltop.

The village, formerly called Mons Major, was born on top of the hill during the early Middle Ages, the existence of the castle has been reported as early as the eighth century .. Like all forts, it was equipped with defensive structures, towers and a drawbridge, but only the massive walls are still existing.

The historic center, perfectly preserved, is characterized by two bell towers that make an unmistakable profile of the town.
