Sleepinitaly
First on the list of areas of the city that really warrant a visit is the Piazza della Signoria. The Piazza is an L-shaped large place in front of the Palazzo Vecchio . It was named after the Palazzo della Signoria, also called Palazzo Vecchio. It is the main point of the origin and of the history of the Repubblica Fiorentina and still maintains its reputation as the political hub of the city. Ponte Vecchio, Piazza del Duomo and  the Uffizi Gallery are all at a short distance.

Here besides the massive and prestigious Old Palazzo, you can find the "Nettuno” fountain  built in the second half of the 500 th century and designed by Bartolomeo Ammannati. Right in front of the "Palazzo Vecchio” you will find  two sculptures, the famous David of Michelangelo and "Ercole e Caco di Baccio Bandinelli. You have to see also the "Loggia dei Lanzi” , the famous bronze "Perseo” by Cellini  and the "Ratto delle Sabine di Giambologna” (the rape of the Giambologna Sabine women).
